FINAL RICCARTON TRIALS
(Special to the "Eveninj Post.") CHRISTCHTJRCH, This Day. At Eiccarton this morning the galloping was done on the No. 7 (inside) grass track, which, was fast. This is a short track, so good tiinos were to be expected. Horses engaged at Trenthara moved well. Cricket Bat ran six furlongs in lmin losec. Copyist went the same distance in lmin 18sec very easily. Horo-, rata did an easy three furlongs.
Bella Bosa boat Dollar Prince over six furlongs in lmin 16 3-ssee, but. the latter would not gallop. . Elbaiior beat Earthquake over six furlongs in lniin 14 2-ssec.
Argeutie and Ranelagh finished strongly over nine furlongs in lmin. 54 2-ssoc. Vintage ran seven furlongs comfortably in lmin 29sec. Davolo went about seven furlongs, the last six in lmin 14 3-saec, Gold Cross bringing him homo.
Polydora, assisted by Seratchmere Scar over the last six furlongs, ran a milo in lmin 39sec without effort. The task was done in great style. Penelope did useful work.
Among other smart gallops Knockfin and Gaysome each registered linin 13 3-ssee for six furlongs alone. Cricket Bat, Copyist, Hororata, Vintage, Elbanor, Davolo, Dollar Prince, Polydora, and Penelope leave tonight for Trenthain. Some Shamble and Silver Sight will not make the trip, and O. McCarthy was uncertain this morning about Ranelagh, who is also an acceptor for Rangiora. The scratching of Madam Pompadour, General O'Duffy, and Strong Light was due to the first-named pair being sore-.
