RUGBY FOOTBALL
INTERNATIONAL TOURS
AMERICA IN THE FIELD
First-hand details of the progress of Rugby football in America were supplied to members of the New Zealand Bugby Union's management committee last night by Mr. Paul Ford,, who, as previously reported in "The Post," has come from San Francisco for the purpose of" arranging an interchange of Bugby visits between America and New Zealand and Australia. The meeting, at which Mr. S. S. Dean was in tho chair, expressed its pleasure at having a visit from an official of the Bugby Union game in California and welcomed the opportunity of hearing from Mr. Ford, who is attached to the San Francisco Olympic Club, of what was being done in advancing the eaus"c of Bugby there. A.'grea-t need, tho visitor explained, wns a closer touch with the well-known Rugby-playing countries, .and to meet this it was hoped that New Zealand would send a team to California and would also receive an American team. ■ Australia's co-op-eration would be sought.
The management committee considered the question at length, and finally decided to recommend to delegates at the annual meoting of the New Zealand Rugby Union that the team going to England next year should play two matches in California after fulfilling its engagements in Great Britain aiid Canada. It was also decided to recommend that, subject to Australia's approval, an American team be invited to visit New Ztaland and Australia in the 1936 season.
