HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES

The House of Representatives met at 2.30 p.m. today.

Tlio Noxious Weeds Amendment Bill was introduced, read a first time, a second time, pro forma, and referred to the Lands Committee. ■

It was explaiuca by, the Minister of Agriculture (the Hon. C. E. Macniillan) that the Bill made better provision for the control of noxious weeds, especially ragwort, which was invading farming properties in the Auckland and Taranaki Provinces. Twenty-one county councils in those districts had asked for authority to appoint, inspectors to assist in controlling the pest, and the Bill provided that authority.
