HEAVY FALLS LIKELY

Special forecast for Wellington:—

Strong and increasing northerly winds.

Weather cloudy to overcast, with rain developing and probably becoming heavy.

According to the general forecast, the weather will beeomo unsettled and general rain will develop, many heavy falls being likely. Temperatures will bo mild, but a cold change in tho southern half of tho South Island is expected before morning. Moderate to strong northerly winds, reaching galo force in places, are anticipated at first, but a change to southcrlics is probable after 24 to 36 hours.

The deep depression referred to yesterday has advanced north of New Zealand, barometers having already fallen considerably in the South, consequently tho north to north-easterly winds which have prevailed have gradually freshened, and in western districts and the far north and south there has been some scattered rain. Elsewhere, howevei', the -weather has been fair and temperatures have been mild everywhere. It was fine- and warm at Auckland yesterday, but showery during the night. At 9 o'clock today it was raining there. A moderate north-easterly wind has prevailed. In Wellington it was dull in the early part of the morning, but most of the clay was line, sunny, and warm, with a light northerly wind. There was a trace of rain in tho night, and Lower Hutt had one point. This morning was dull with a moderate north-north-west wind.

Ohristchureli had dull weather and a moderate to fresh easterly wind. In the evening one- point of rain fell. Tt "w;is cloudy there this morning, :i fresh north-easterly wind blowing.

Iv Diniedin it was again fine and sunny all day, with a light northeasterly wind prevailing. This morning it wns cloudy with a light wind, still .from (ho north-east.
