HATAITAI BRANCH

Mrs. Lundius presided at a recent meeting of the liataitai branch of the League of Mothers in the Realm Hall.

Atfcr the league's hymn and prayer, the president welcomed the visitors and friends. Feeling reference was mado to tho death of Miss Riley and Dr. Bryson, and members stood in silence as a mark of respect. Songs by Mrs. Jacobson and the Glee Singers were very much enjoyed.

Miss Lorimer gave an interesting address on "The Adolescent Girl." The adolescent age, said Miss Lorimer, was

a great upheaval -to some girls, bringing as it did many changes and emotions. The mother's main duty was to realise that their daughters very probably had a different outlook today, and to ,try to understand and sympathise with it. Every generation was inclined to criticise the new generation, and the mother should endeavour, not to repress her daughters, but to train their judgment and warn them of dangers ahead. She should train their tastes to like what was good and wholesome and supervise their reading. Informative books, history and religion, were a firm backing to education, "We live in God's world, placed here for a purpose," said Miss Lorimor. "Girls should attend church, read their Bibles, and pray, and, if backed by a good mother, should go through life safely." A hearty vote .of thanks was accorded Miss Loriinc'r, and a delicious afternoon tea was served by the committee. An initiation service was then hold, ■<ix new members being admitted. Mrs. Lundius gave the thought- for tho month, and the meeting closed with tho Lord's Prayer.
