SHIPMENTS TO BRITAIN

There was a decrease of 796 tons from the amount for the corresponding period last year in the shipments of butter from New Zealand during August and September last, the first two months of the 1934----35 season: According to figures supplied by the New Zealand Dairy Produce Board the butter exported in August and September amounted to 14,697 tons, all of which went to the United Kingdom except for 77 tons. In the first two months of last season 17,269 tons were shipped, all but 349 tone going to the United KingCheese exports during the same period were exactly the same this season as last —9715 tons, practically the whole of which went to the United Kingdom. Of the butter shipped to the United Kingdom last month 98 per cent, was consigned, and 2 per cent, sold f.o.b. In September last year 73 per cent, was consigned. Of the cheese shipments 73 per cent, was consigned this year, as compared with 80 per cent, last year. For the nine months ended September 30, imports of butter- to the United Kingdom from all sources increased by 45,396 tons over the corresponding period last year, those from the Empire increasing by 27,615 tons. Estimated stocks of New Zealand, Australian, and Canadian cheese in London, Liverpool, and Bristol were 16,612 tons, as against 17,756 tons on October 1 last year. Total stocks in New Zealand and New Zealand stocks afloat were 23,797 tons, compared with 21,832 last year.
