LARGE ACREAGE PUT DOWN

(By Telecraph—l'ress Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, This Day

An estimate that between 240,000 and •230,000 acres were sown in wheat this season throughout New Zealand was advanced by Mr W. W. Mulholland to the meeting of wheatgrowers' delegates today. "This is a very awkward acreage from the marketing point of view,",he st.id. It would bo well on in the season before it would be clear -whether the crop would be in excess of requirements or otherwise. It was a halcyon state of affairs for speculators but it was unsatisfactory to tho growers, some of whom might be in the position of having to sell their wheat for less than it was worth.
