NEW YORK, October 15.

A message from Little America slates that after his long absence Admiral By rd quietly resumed direct control of the expedition. lie re-occupied his quarters in the administration building this morning, and rested. Later he irarried on interviews and consultations with his assistants from his bunk. He was inclined to be reticent about his adventures at the Boiling base. "Right now," he said, "I am more interested in learning what-is going on here and settling on the best moans of accomplishing the big job ahead of us. The other phase seems a long way back now. The present job is more imperative." The two tractor parties have restarted their operations despite the weather. No. 2 has returned from Boiling base, where it cached supplies Harold June's group reported that they had made repairs and progessed to the foot of the Grace McKinley Mountain, part of the Ford Range, and marked out a landing field for future explorations. They start the return trip today, if the weather is good.
