WELLINGTON CLUB
At the fortieth anual meeting of the Wellington"Amateur Swimming Club, held last evening, the following' officers were elected for the ensuing season:— President, Mr. W. G. Morpcth; vicepresidents, Messrs. W. Cowan, W. Thomson, J. F. B. Stevenson, T. C. A. Hislop, B. Sutherland, P. Coira, F. Desmond, A. \ SomerviUe; chairman of committee, Mr. D. S. N. McCartney; club captain, Mr.' K. Spry; vice-captain, Mr. (.!. Watkinson; lion, secretary, Mr. A. A. Jonkins; hon. treasurer, Mr. R. S. Johnsou; handicapper, Mr. J. Blakeley; delegates to Welliugton centre, Mr. W. J. Look and Mr. A. A. Jenkins; polo captain, Mr. H. Gillespie; committee, Messrs. A L Kelly, W. J. Look, B. Collins, A. Xaults, H. Gillespie, W. C. McLean, L. McDonald, F. Pennington. Mr. Morpeth, who occupied the chair, remarked that there would be more hie in the swimming clubs if some of the older members would take it on themselves to encourage and to create enthusiasm among the juniors. - Mr. D. S. N. McCartney deplored the lack of public tepid baths in Wellington. Until better facilities were offered to swimmers here the sport would continue to suffer.
