The general forecast issued at noon today is for light to moderate, but gradually freshening, northerly winds. For the most part the weather will be fair to fine with milder temperatures, but somo scatterer light rain is probable, more especially in western districts and in the far north and south. Both wind and weather yesterday were very variable. Tho weather was fino over-most of the South Island, but from Cook Strait northwards it was dull and misty with scattered rain. Since last night light and scattered rain, mostly coastal in character, has extended to the South Island. Conditions, .however, had improved considerably by this morning, the weather being mainly fair and milder^with north-east-erly breezes predominating. Pressure to the east has risen, but it has fallen slightly over New Zealand, while a deep depression is at present located over the western part of the Tasman Sea..

Auckland's wjeather wag showery early yesterday morning, but since then it has been fair although cloudy, with a moderate north-easterly wind.

Wellington had dull weather yesterday, with misty rain in the morning and some further rain in the evening, nine points in all being recorded at Kelburn. The wind was a light southerly. The night was calm, and by this morning the weather had improved, conditions at 0 a.m. being cloudy with a light wind from the north-cast. A dull morning in Christchurch was followed by a sunny afternoon, the wind freshening from the north-east. The night was dull aii.l mild with a trace of rain, and the weather this morning was (lull and misty with a northeasterly breeze.

Duiirdin has had a continuance of linn wnnther with a light wind from the north-east.
