THE NEW RAMP
PETONE'S DECISION
WILL NOT CONTRIBUTE
After a very brief discussion iast evening, the Petono Borough Council decided not to subscribe towards tho cost of an overbridgo and approaches at the junction of the Waterloo Quay extension with the Hutt Road.
Councillor J. Cunnning said that lio thought tlio cost of the scheme should be borne nationally, as the rani]) would be used by many ears proceeding up country. Ho moved, and Councillor X N. Campbell seconded, a resolution that the council should not contribute towards the cost of construction of tho ramp. Councillor G. London said that as Petone was becoming an industrial area, the new ramp would bo used very widely by vehicles proceeding to and from I'etone, so -Petone should pay a share towards Ihe cost.
Councillor Gumming's motion was carried by five votes to four, those voting against it being Councillors G. London, R. W. Toomatli, E. T. E. Hogg, and V. A. Noble.
