NEW TAXI FARES
Persons hiring licensed passengervehicles should familiarise themselves with the provisions of the City Council's new bylaw which comes into force on Monday, because fares are now definitely fixed, and it is the intention of the council to enforeo tho bylaw rigidly. There have been many cases where custom has established concessions by taxi-drivers to patrons who are frequent passengers, but it will be the duty of the taxi-drivers from Monday to demand the exact fare, no more and no less, or they will lay themselves open to prosecution. This fact should bo recognised by patrons, who should also study the exceptions and cases in which the fare is a matter of mutual agreement.
