MISSING ARTICLES FOUND
POLICE RAID A HOUSE
(By Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, September 28. Practically the whole of the jewellery, valued at over £.1000, which was stolen from the jeweller's shop of Mr. J. Pascoe, Newton, this month, was recovered by a party of ten detectives who raided a house in Nelson Street, city, about 9 o'clock-this evening. Several men and a woman who were found on tho premises were taken to police headquarters, and arrests are expected. Since the burglary inquiries have been made by practically the whole of tho detective staff, and their investigations culminated in the raid. Two car loads of detectives, led by Detec-tive-Sergeant McHugh, surrounded the house, and an entry was made simultaneously by both frout and back doors. The jewellery, which included hundreds of pieces of gold, was found in various hiding places in tho house. Itwas brought to police headquarters and locked in safety for the night. The burglary was a particularly daring one, as the thieves climbed a drainpipe to reach tho roof of Mr. Paseoo's shop, and entered through a man-hole. They stole almost every gold article in two large showcases near the glass front door, apparently shielding themselves with white cloth covers placed over the cases at night.
