3000 DOLLARS A MONTH HARDLY ENOUGH
The sad story of a seven-year-old girl who couldn't make ends meet on an allowance of 3000 dollars a month was told recently in Surrogates' Court in New York City, says tho "Literary Digest."
Lucy Cotton Thomas, daughter of the late Edward Russell Thomas, applied through hor mother, Mrs. Lucy Cotton Thomas Magraw, for a monthly allowance of 5000 dollars.
. Lucy, the Court records showed, had a gross estate of 2,402,36s dollar.s, which was reduced to 1,869,244 dollars
through losses from the sale of securities and disbursements.
Among tho monthly charges listed by Mrs. Magraw for her daughter's upkeep are sundries and rent at the hotel where she is living, amounting to 1500 dollars, an increase of 700 dollars over the last allowance. Other items include groceries, 283 dollars; dentist, 10 dollars; maid; 30 dollars; Lido Country Club, 250 dollars; toys, 71 dollars; telephone, 37 dollars; and 24 dollars for massages.
