INTERCHANGE OF VISITS
"A resolution preventing Australian hockey teams from visiting the Dominion during the annual interState hockey carnival, passed recently at the annual meeting of the- Australian Hockey Association, may possibly put an end to any interchange of visits between the two countries," said Mr. W. Eothwell, manager of the touring Australian hockey team, in an interview at Auckland.
"The carnival is always held in August, find it is impossible to como to New Zealand in June and July, as not only is it too early in the season, but also climatic conditions are less favourable. The trouble has arisen through some teams being seriously weakened at the carnival at Adelaido by the absence of outstanding players on the present tour. However, there will not be another Australian touring team until 1938, so that the resolution may be rescinded before then."
Commenting on tho standard of play in New Zealand, Mr. Eothwell considered that it had not improved since his last visit. In his opinion New Zealand hockey was at its best, especially in the provincial centres, about 1923.
