EXHIBITION OPENED
MANY PRETTY FROCKS
I An exceptionally large attendance of art-lovers filled the gallery in Whitniore Street last evening when his Excellency the Governor-General, Lord Bledisloe, opened the annual exhibition of the New Zealand Academy of Fine Arts. Their Excellencies, accompanied by Miss Sheila Hudson and Captain J. Tweedie, A.D.C., were received by the president, Mr. D. A. Ewen, and Mrs. Ewen. Her Excellency wore- a gown of cherry chiffon velvet, under a long whito fur coat Miss Hudson wore a white chiffon frock embossed with black spots and a three-quarter caped wrap of black satin. Mrs. Ewen wore a black crepo suede frock patterned in gold and rose and a short black velvet coatee.
