Mr. Lippiatt. drov.o with friends' to Kinldchard, ok the Abert'oyle side of the inountaiif, on the morning of August 2, and.set out alono to climb Ben Lomond and across to Kowardonnan, where the car party was to meet him. As ho did not appear after several hours, his friends raised the alarm.. ' ■■•-.. .... Search was made from both Hides of the "mountain, but'the searchers returned unsuccessful early on August 3, .when a fresh search was organised. The aeroplane was forced to return owing to the- heavy, mists. Searchers on foot were driven back by drenching rain and mist which became so dense that" •they themselves were in peril. The police took no purt in the search, the reason being that there are two counties —Perthshire and Stirlingshire—in the area and no lead had beon given by either police force. It was understood that a shepherd .warned Mr. Lippintt not to continue the a.scent. The height.'of fieri Lomond is ;np2 r<-rt.
