A "TEST" SERMON

CHURCH LIKE SPORTS DEPOT

(Received September 25, 2 p.m.)

LONDON, September 24.

Christ Church, Upper Norwood , resembled a sports depot when the cricketer, the Bey. Prank Gillingham, gave a Test sermon. Bats and pads covered the sides of the pulpit, bows and arrows, tennis rackets; • and footballs hung around the lectern, cricket stumps ■ clustered under the chancel, while lacrosse and hockey'sticks, Indian clubs, and boxing gloves were scattered about the church. "If we Tiad had the best team," said the preacher, and played our Larwoods, Voces, and Jardine, I do not think we would . have beaten the Australians because they were the better team."
