Tho Peruvian Foreign Office on Monday instructed the Peruvian Ambassador at Washington to start legal proceedings alleging libel against C. W. Webster, of tho Curtiss Aircraft Company, in connection with his testimony before tho United States Senate Munitions Committee for alleged assertions against the Peruvian Aviation Commander, J. L. Romano. The Government published a communique denying a statement attributed to Webster that "Peru bought British aeroplanes costing lp,ooo dollars over Curtiss prices, and furthermore there was someonq who received at least 100,000 dollars commission." T-he Aviation- Ministry ordered an inquiry, and published a statement showing that tho United States machines were more expensive, and in some cases as high as 6000 dollars over British.
