TAYLOR DEFEATS DAL COSTA

I A return' professional': boxing contest staged' between Frank Taylor, Auckland, and Dal Costa, bantamweight, champion (of New South Wales, was won;by Taylor on points at the end of a scheduled tenrounds bout. Although not quite so open and spectacular as the first ma,tch between the pair more than a fortnight ago, it was a hard fight all the way. The boxers obviously held a great respect for each other, and the result was a display-of wonderful defence by both, with a good deal of in-fighting. Some very solid body punching ; was don* by botii, Taylor's blows containing more stins than those of the Australian. The pair finished comparatively fresh: and were accorded a fine ovation. '; Prior to the professional contest the finals of the Auckland provincial amateur championships were decided. The following were winners:—Flyweight, J. Maurice; bantam, P. Meyer;, feather, C. Smith; light, W. Hogg; welter, J. Bakalich; middle, R. B. Martin; light-heavy, 11. E. Neale; heavy, H. Hepburn.
