SPEED BOATS AT VENICE

Mr. Hubert Scott Paine will leave Southampton on Friday with his racing boat Miss Britain 111 to take part in the speed record contests at Venice on September 15. He has entered for the world's single-engined motor-boat record, the European seamile record, the Italian seaplane record, and for the challenge cups of the Crown Prince "of Italy and Count Volpi. Miss Britain 111 is fitted with, a 1300-horse-powor engine which is five years old, but it has been recently overhauled, and Mr. Scott Paine states that it will now develop at least 1500 horsepower, enabling her to improve upon her previous speed of 102 miles per hour. A new Italian boat, fitted with an aeroplane engine, has been constructed and will be driven by Count Rossi.
