DAUGHTERS' BRANCH
LEAGUE OF MOTHERS
A meeting of the daughters' branch of the League of Mothers was held recently in the Methodist School Hall, Island Bay, when Mrs. Hindmarsh presided over a gathering of about fifty girls and young women. With her on the platform was Mrs. Cornish, provincial district secretary of tho League of Mothers. At this meeting all those who had attended the two previous meetings of tho branch were received into membership in an inspiring little service, conducted by the president. Each girl reccivod a card, bearing the following resolve, which embodies the aims of the branch: — I will try this day to -live a simple, sincere, and serene life, repelling . promptly every thought of anxiety, discouragement, self-seeking; cultivating cheerfulness, magnanimity, charity; exercising economy in expenditure, generosity in giving, carefulness in conversation, diligence in appointed service, fidelity to every trust, and a child-like faith in God. The provisional committee, elected at the inaugural. meeting of tho branch, was re-elected for tho ensuing year, and Miss I. Craig was elected as vice-presi-dent. The speaker for the evening was Mrs. W. S. Rollings, who gave a beautiful and helpful address on "Character Building," which was much appreciated by the girls. Miss 0. Diamond Tendered two delightful solos, and a dainty supper brought a happy evening to a close.
