ASSAULT ALLEGED
CLAIM AGAINST DOCTOR

INVEECARGILL, September 4,
In the Magistrate's Court at Riverton this morning before Mr. E. C. Levvey, S.M., William Spencer, a war pensioner, claimed from Dr. J. W. Bridgman, formerly of Riverton and now of Greymouth, a sum of £60 10s for alleged assault.
The statement of claim set out that on July 4, 1934, tho defendant had severely assaulted the plaintiff by kicking him and striking him severe blows on tho body, and that as a result tho plaintiff had been confined to bed for several weeks suffering from an accumulation of fluid on a lung, bringing on a recurrence of tubercular trouble which the defendant had knowledge that the plaintiff was suffering from. The claim was made up of £50 general damages and £10 TOs medical expenses.
Evidence on behalf of tho plaintiff occupied the greater part of the day, the case then being adjourned to Invercargill without a definite date being fixed.
