AMATEUR BOXING TOUR
AUSTRALIAN MANAGER
VISIT TO NEW ZEALAND
For some time news has been awaited in the- Dominion "regarding developments in , connection with the visit next month, of a team of amateur boxers from Australia, but definite information that matters are not standing still in Australia has been received by the secretary of the New Zealand Boxing Council (Mr. G. P. Aldridge) from the honorary secretary of tho Amateur Boxing and Wrestling Union of Australia (Mr. W. McCluskey), who advises that ho has been appointed manager of tho team. In the course of his letter Mr. MeCluskey states fthat arrangements are going ahead smoothly in connection with the tour, and ho anticipates that ho will be able to cable the personnel of the team about September 18. Mr. MeCluskey is also the honorary secretary of the Queensland, Amateur Boxing .and Wrestling* Union, and writes that the State's amateur boxing championships will be completed on September 17, after which it will bo possible to select the team. Nominations from New South Wales, Tasmania, and Victoria will bo considered in conjunction with the names of tho Queensland champions.. "A NICE ITINERARY." "The itinerary is a. very nice one," writes Mr. McCluskcy, "and will provide an interesting trip. ■ Quite a number of Queensland people will be accompanying the team." He adds that he expects to have some interesting discussions with Mr. Aldridgo and members of the New Zealand Council. The team is duo to arrive at AtickInnd by tho Manuna on October 2, and will proceed from there to Invcrcargill, where the Test match against the Now Zealand amateurs will take place on October 10 and 11. ' Matches will follow ngainst the , Wellington amateurs on October 15, and against Auckland on October 22. A visit will be paid to Rotorua between the Wellington and Auckland engagements.
