"BILL BROWN TRUST"
CHARITY AND EDUCATION
EX-WELLINGTONIAN'S WILL
The will of the late Mr. William George David Brown, of Wellington, makes provision for "The Bill Brown Trust," under which the income from amounts totalling £35,000, after beneficiaries have received income during their lifetimes, is to bo devoted to various objects, with one definite exclusion.
The solicitors to the trust, Messrs. Kent and AVebb, state that the board of trustees is to consist of the Mayor of Wellington for the time being, Mr. G. K. Brown, a son of the deceased, and another trustee to be appointed.
Tho trust is to be applied "to and for such charitable or educational purposes or institutions within an area of ten miles of the General Post Office of the city of Wellington, and in such manner and in such shares or to such extent as the board of trustees hereinafter mentioned shall from time to time by resolution direct and appoint, provided, however, that no purposes or institutions connected in any way with the Roman Catholic Church shall participate in the benefits provided by this my will."
Copies of the will were made available to the City Council last night.
The late Mr. Brown was for thirty years a member of the firm of Bannatyne's, first as accountant and later as junior partner, and retired when the firm was bought out. He was formerly a member of the Wellington Racing Club, and was interested in other sports.
