THE P.E.N.
A meeting of the executive of the Ne-w Zealand centre of the P.E.N. was held in the Parliamentary Library last week, Dr. Scholefield presiding.
An interesting report was received from Miss Nelle Scanlan as to the recent big congress in Scotland, at which Miss Scanlan was the New Zealand delegate.
It was decided, to endeavour to arrange a social gathering of tho New Zealand centre to welcome Dr. Harrop, a member of the London centre, and to endeavour to secure the attendance of Miss Edith Lyttelton and Miss Jano Mander, also members and also in New Zealand, at the function.
It was decided to offer the support of the P.E.N. with regard to the testimonial which is to be presented to Miss Jessie Mackay about the end of the year in Christehurch.
The following new members were elected:—Profesor Arnold Wall, Dr. J. Hight, Miss Iris Wilkinson, Messrs. Arthur Gordon Butchers, A. E. Cnrric, \V. F. Alexander, J. C. Beaglehole, Victor S. Lloyd, R. A. K. Mason, F. W. Reed, R.. A. Singer, J. H. Sehroeder, A. W. Shrimpton, A. R. D. Fairburn, D 'Arcy Cresswell, and William Satchel!.
