RUGBY FOOTBALL
TOUR TO ENGLAND
QUESTION OF MANAGERSHIP
Although nothing definito has been done in the matter of appointing the manager of tho New Zealand Rugby team to visit the Home countries next year, reports from various sources indicate that not a few candidates arc likely to bo offering for the position. It is understood that more than one official will accompany tho team and that at least one delegate. will bo appointed to attend, tho conference to be held in England during the New Zealand team's tour. Some members of tho New Zealand Eugby Union's management committee are expected to be candidates for one or other of the positions, and names of officials of several affiliated unions have also been mentioned.
With regard to the managership, Mr. V. R. Meredith, of Auckland, who is a member of the No* Zealand selection committee, is regarded as one having strong claims. It has been suggested, however, that ho might-not bo available. Mr. Meredith is at present in "Wellington, and he intimated to a "Post" reporter that in response to nnmorous requests ho had consented to his being nominated for tho position of manager of tho team.
