ANTHRAX IN SHAVING
BRUSHES

Commenting on. reports from Nevr Zealand that Japanese shaving brushes had been found to bo infected with anthrax germs, the Foreign Spokesman pointed out that tho strictest sterilisation was carried out at Japanese factories. Moreover, the disease was mr heard of in Japan. >
He suggested that local manufacturers wore encouraging the agitation.
The Health Department stated recently that a few of a considerable consignment of imported shaving:' brushes bearing no brand, but the number 332 stamped oii the handle, had been found on bacteriological test to be infectivo for. anthrax or malignant pustule should a cut bo made in the skin. The brushes in question wore inexpensive, and tho public was strongly advised not to use but to destroy by burning any shaving brushes which. ,
came into their possession bearing that number.
