RESERVE BANK WEEKLY STATEMENT

■ The weekly' Statement of assets and liabilities of the Reserve Bank of New Zealand, printed in. the Gazette last Bight, shows the position as at tlio close o£ business on Monday last, compared with, "that of the week before," as'follows: —! § '

Proportion of reserve (No. 8 less No. 6) to notes and other demand liabilities, 99.63 per cent, last week; 99.65 per cent, this week. It will be noticed that the gold reserve this'week has grown from £2,431,226 10s to £3,202,179. . This is explained by further transfers of gold holdings made by the trading banks this week to the Reserve Bank. The sterling exchange represents sterling balances handed over to the Reserve Bank.
