BLENHEIM, August 25.
Defending the Seddon Shield, Marlborough defeated Golden Bay-Motueka by 19 points to\3. The conditions were excellent, and there was a record crowd present.
j Though maintaining a territorial advantage for most of the 'first spell, Marlborough established a- lead of only 3 points to nil, the challengers specialising in hard tackling and spoiling. The packs were evenly matched. In the second spell the Marlbdrough backs proved altogether too good, scoring three fine tries. For the winners, Patcliett registered three tries and Wilson a try; Lane converted two tries and kicked a penalty gonl. Limn scored a ! try for Motueka. ,
