The Wellington Rugby Colts defeated the Taranaki Colts. by 24 points to IS. The match was played in fine weather. Tho cause of Wellington's victory lay in spectacular play. Wellington threw the bal} about, caught Taranaki napping, and quickly scored 11 points. Thereafter Taranaki held their own; indeed, they .had; the better of the second epell. G'albr-iiitli made a "comeback" for Taranaki, and was the best attacking back on the ground. Bnrke played an outstanding game among tlfe forwards and kicked excellently: Cxarquer also was a fine forward. ' \ Tindill .played a good game at half for Wellington whip the ball was occasionally hooked to him, but Taranaki generally dominated the scrums; their hooking was much superior. It was in the open that Wellington was dangerous: the threef|iiarter linn always roiiserl the crowd when they started passing. Their coiiccKed play
gave them points,1 and Lamason also kicked exceptionally well. Ttminnki's trouble was ut the half and five-eighths positions. Galbraith scored the finest try of the day, running through practically the whole Wellington team." Mace also scored u Spectacular try lor Taranaki, dodging his way through a number of defenders. The game generally was bright and open, but was marred by too many mistakes. Seven Wellington men suffered minor injuries, and two had to leave the field. One Tarauaki man also had tu leave early in the game.
