UMBRELLAS AND GOLOSHES
! There has been a phenomenal sale of and goloshes this year, says au Australian correspondent. One MelI bourne shop is selling 1000 pairs of goloshes a day. Another firm had to draw, from its window display to meet the demand for umbrellas. "I consider that the new. halo hats have been partly responsible for the phenomenal sale of umbrellas," stated tho manager of a department. "Of course, numbers of unibrollas are sold 'every winter, but this year thero has been an exceptionally largo idemand for [these accessories. Women arc so keen (about their now halo hats that they will not risk getting them wet." The short chubby stylo of umbrella is still in favour. It is a most convenient shape, and much loss dangerous in a' crowd than - the old-fashioned [pointed variety. With goloshes- the best seller is .the vainp-shaped one that slips on and off so easily; but wator- ! proof ankle-high boots are in steady demand. These are finished with a zip fastening, which makes them simple to slip on and off.
