AMERICAN WITHDRAWALS
POOR REPRESENTATION
EXPENSE TOO GREAT
fulled Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright, NEW YORK, August 11. The aviation editor of the "New York Herald-Tribune" declares that the majority of the American entrants in tho Macßobortson air race have withdrawn for one reason or another, mainly owing to the great expense of equipping a craft and transporting it to England in comparison with the probability of winning the prize money. "The present indications arc that this country's representation will bo small, if not non-existent, at the take-off on October SO," ho says. He understands that Turner and Pangborn, as well as Gatty, have definitely decided not to enter, while Wiley Post, although ho has not withdrawn, is considering doing so. Among the several prospective women entrants only Laura Ingalls is still carrying forward her plans.
