COWES REGATTA SPOILT

(British Official Wireless.) (Received August 13, 11 a.m.) RUGBY, August 11,

A storm in tho Channel and off the east coast of England imperilled many yachts and other small craft yesterday and a number of rescues were effected. Early this morning tho Clacton lifeboat was launched to search for the pleasure . steamer Cla-cton Queen, which, with 600 passengers on board, was much overdue on a passage irom Chatham. She arrived six hours late about 4 o'clock this morning with all on board safe. ■ ~,-,* Tho storm completely spoiled the last day's racing of the Royal Yacht Squadron Begatta at Cowes and several dinghies capsized, but assistance was promptly at hand and tho occupants were rescued.
