£122,632. During the corresponding month in the preceding year only sixteen steamers were chartered by the company, which number did not include any British vessels. The amount paid in freights in May of last year was £55,662. An additional . nineteen steamers were taken in May on a time charter, eleven of them being British. The total amount of freight involved.for time charter is estimated at £54,915. In the first five months of the current year the Anglo-Soviet Shipping Company chartered 278 steamers of 1,795,638 tons, of -which 179 vessels of 1,147,063 tons were British. Of the total estimated freight of £1,144,522, the amount due for British vessels is estimated at £748,879. O£ the other countries, Greece supplied 43 vessels, Norway 21, Italy 10, Sweden 6, Holland 5, Latvia 4, Finland and Estonia 3 each, Denmark 2, Belgium and Germany 1 each. In the first five months of 1033 only, 90 steamers were chartered by the company, o£ which. 26 were British. Of the total amount of £372,881 paid in freights during the period — £150,320 was received by British owners.
