THAMES, This Day. Hemi (Jimmy) Aki, a Maori, aged 20, was charged in the Police Court this morning before Messrs. J. W. Danby and N. Jonassen, Justices of the Peace, with having attempted a grave offence against an elderly widow on Saturday evening.

On the application of the .police the accused wasremanded for a week, counsel stating tha,fc he would not ripply for bail owing to the serious condition of the victim.

It is reported today that tho woman was siill seriously affected by shock and injuries, but was showing an improvmnont.
