Tho first woman to be executed iai tho Stato of New York since Mrs, Snyder on January 12, 1928, was Anna Antonio, who, with two accomplices whom she hired to kill her husband m order to obtain 5300 dollars life insur-* ance, was electrocuted. She left three* children. The ease aroused wide atten* tiou.
After every legal effort,1 almost to tho last hour, had failed to secure a stay of proceedings, Ruth Snyder and Henry Judd Grey were electrocuted in Sing Sing prison on January 12, 1928, fov the murder of the. woman's ,■ husband. Mrs.. Snyder was the first woman ,t<j suffer capital punishment in New York State for 19 years, and "only the third since electrocution was instituted.
