PAST YEAR'S ACTIVITIES
The following is a brief summary of what the Wellington R.S.A.: has done for.unemployed returned soldiers 'during :the year ending March 31, 1931:— '■;■ : j > Assistance granted ,and subsidised?-svqrk provided, £4990; grants 'to (other 'organisations for relief of unemployed returned soldiers. . ' , „ , ~.: , The total number of. days of subsidi^eiL work found was 3045, and 741 men, wtk employed. In addition, a considerable amount of uusubsidised . work ..%vas ~^a)--ranged. The whole of this effort, however, only represents an" average: of-,25: Od per week for each unemployed returned soldier. To do this the Wellington Returned Soldiers. Association. spent, £1000 of capital last year. The income of AV.K. S.A. from outside sources for the year-was* £2470 from the Canteen Trust Fund Board, and other donations amounting; tp . ££H). The difference between this £2.1(50: and the total of £5307 provided ;(£2837) was raised by the Wellington Retuiuied 1 Soldiers' Association in the1 form' , r of'income on ■ investments, capital, Poppy and , Rose Day collections, social activities, employers' wages oil subsidy, etc. ■ The • totrf. may be compared with the amounts utilised for'assistance in 1932, £2273," and in 1933, £3245. . .
