TORONTO, August 5.* Admiral Sir Reginald Tyrwhitt, who is here for iho Canadian Corps reunion, expressed the hope tonight that Canada would consider increasing her present naval force. * , He "pointed out that the Royal Navy has insufficient cruisers for the protection of the Empire's merchant marine in the event of war. Sir Reginald Tyrwhitt intimated that personally he would like to see the Dominions providing, equipping, and maintaining their own units. He cited Australia as having a formidable navy. , ' He hoped that the Admiralty would in the near future decido to build an adequate number of additional cruisers. Ho stressed the fact that he was expressing his personal beliefs. Sir Reginald was inclined to think that aircraft }s powers, for the defence of British cities were overrated, but emphasised that ho was speaking as a navy man.
