HIT-AND-RUN CASE
(By Telegraph—Press Association.) • PALMERSTON N., August 5. A .hit-ana-run accident, resulting in two pedestrians receiving injuries necessitating their removal to hospital, occurred at the intersection of Rangitikei Street and the Square late last night. Miss Doris Williams, 70 Grey Street, Palmerston North, and Mr. Janic Sted-
man Viles, ' farmer, of Brieo's Line, had just stepped oil tho footpath when a motor-car, said to bo travelling at a considerable speed, suddenly made a turn from Kangitikei Street into Broadway knocking tho two pedestrians down as it did so. '
Tho car did not stop, and speedily proceeded along Broadway. Miss AVilliams and Mr. Viles suffered from abrasions and shock, and wero taken to to tho hospital by Frco Ambulance.
The accident happened so suddenly that few of tho bystanders had a chanco of seeing tho ear or of taking its number.
