NELSON'S BANK HOLIDAY
NOT OBSERVED BY BANKS

NELSON, This Day. Nelson is celebrating today, as usual, the first Monday of August, as a bank holiday, following the habit of the early; settlers, who kept /up "the holiday as they were accustomed to do before leaving Home for New Zealand. Curiously' enough, the banks ar« probably the only local institution! which do not'observe the holiday.
