MISS BATTEN'S ENGAGEMENT

(From "Tho Post's" Representative.)

New Zealanders in London express groat interest at tho announcement of the engagement of Miss Jean Batten to Mr. Edward Eraser Walter, of Rcdcliffo Gardens, Earl's Court. Mr. Walter mentioned to an interviewer that Miss Batten made her flight to Aus-, tralia on wings borrowed from his aeroplane. "Wo have made no plans about the wedding," he said." "Thoso details will be settled when Miss Batten returns to England, and I don't expect sho will be back before tho end of tho year. I have known Jean sinco tho beginning of the year, when we were both members of the Brooklands Flying Club, and wo have frequently flown together. She is a much more adept pilot than I am." Hor engagement will not interfere with her flying career, Mr. Walter adding: "It is in her blood, and sho lives for flying."'
