PRIVILEGES OF CROWN
A Bill which has been prepared privately for the amendment of the law concerning actions by or against Government Departments was approved^ at a meeting yesterday of the executive' of tho. Associated Chambers 'of C.ornmovco, .■'■-" ..
Mr. A. OP. Wright said it was an anomaly, under the Crown Suits Act as it at present stood, that the. position with regard to the unfair privileges of tho Crown in actions by ov against Government Departments had not been remedied. Where the Crown was a litigant in respect of trading ventures it should be bound by the same rules and laws as oporated between subject and subject. The Bill undor consideration would place State trading Departments on tho same footing, as regards suing and being sued, as private trading concerns. It was a reform long overdue.
It was decibel to ask the AttorneyGeneral to receive representations on the subject
