_ The Plimmertbn -Bowling^ Croquet, and lemus;-.,Clud-is in a satisfactory position, , according tothe annual.report of the club which: is-to. be presented at the annual meeting on August 11. The.balance-sheet, V states the report, showed.an excess of income over expenditure of £47>-which, in the existing circumstances, must •be considered satisfactory Due to the fact that the property had been considerably improved during, the past few years, the executive considered it unnecessary, to provide for depreciation. _ As in.previous years, the members of the various sections of the club's activities had afforded the club a full measure of . cooperation and support during the year. ..Regret at the.departure for Ipalmerston North .of Mr. and Mrs. P. M. Garner is expressed in. the report. Both had rendered excellent service and their departure was a severe loss-to the club. Mrs. Garner proved a tower of strength to the croquet club, and Mr. Garner' an enthusiastic worker 'in the' bowling section. Upon the departure of ■ Mr., Garner, Mr. H. Keats, a member of the club, volunteered to give his services gratuitously in looking after the bowling and . croquet" greens. Mr. Keats had spent considerable time in the preparation of the greens, and the indications were that, they would be in good order for. the coming 'season. The, report refers to the valuable service rendered by the members of the croquet club during the year, and acknowledges a donation of £26 from them.
■ Regret that Mr. E. J. Stephens,' vicepresident, has intimated that he will not be a candidate for the office-during the coming year, is also expressed. ' .
