INDECENCY CHARGE
EVIDENCE SUPPRESSED
In the interests of public morality orders clearing the court and forbidding the publication of the evidence were made yesterday by the Chief Justice (Sir Michael Myers1) at the trial in the Supreme Court of George Milner on a charge of indecent assault on a male. After a retirement of cbout 50 minutes, the jury returned to'ask his Honour whether it would be to find a verdict of attempted indecent assault. His Honour said that if the jury felt doubtful whether ;th'e case showed'the actual offence but thought there were acts on the part of the accused from which they thought an attempt' might reasonably -and properly be inferred, then it would be competent for them to find an attempt at an indecent ,act. The jury retired again, and returned with a verdict that ■ the prisoner was guilty of attempted, indecent assault. Milner was >'remanded until Friday morning for sentence. His Honour said that he would like the police to have the fullest inquiries made -egarding Milner's antecedents anr 1 so on. It occurred to him that this might just have been a single, and sudden lapse. Mr. A. J. Mazengarb and Mr. C. R. Barrett appeared'for the prisoner.
