LEAVING TOMORROW

The .New Zealand EugTjy football team for the brief tour of Australia this season is assembling in Wellington today. Most of the players from outside Wellington have arrived, as has the manager of the team, Mr. A. J. Gedde's, of Southland. • Some' players from tho South Island aTe due tomorrow morning to complete the party, which will leave, for Sydney by the Maunganui tomorrow. The players aTO receiving a round of farewells, including functions this evening.. Two former well-known Rugby players—E. N. Greatofex (Australia) and C. G. Porter (New Zealand) —are alse proceeding to Sydney by ; the Maunganui.

Tho programmo of matches to be played in Australia is as follows: —

August I—v. Western Districts, at Orange. August 4 —v.' Now South Wales, at Sydney. August 6—v. New South Wales, at Sydney. August 11 —v. Australia, (first Test), at Sydney. . August 15—v.' Queensland, at Brisbane. August 18 —v. an Australian team, at Brisbane. August 22-^v. Newcastle, at Newcastle. August 25 —v. Australia (second Test), at Sydney.

The team is to'leave Sydney on the return trip to. New Zealand immediately after the second Test, and is due back on August 30. Before disbanding the tourists will play a match- at Wellington, probably on Thursday, August 31. It is likely that the team to oppose the touring side will be one representative of other New Zealand players regarded as being in the running foT places in tho team for England next'year.

William Henry Gardiner, a labourer, aged 43, was fined £3 in default fourteen days' imprisonment by Mr. E. Pago, S.M., in the Magistrate's Court today for his fifth offence of drunkenness.
