TORRENTIAL RAIN
FLOODS IN SOUTH LONDON
LONDON, July 23. A severe thunderstorm and torrential rain occurred in South London and adjoining counties last night, causing extensive flooding. Water invaded the basements of thousands of houses and the embankment collapsed on a railway near West Wiekhuni. The driver pulled up a passenger train within inches of derailment. A man. was killed by lightning.
