BILLIARDS

A first-c ass exhibition of billiards was witnessed last Wednesday evening at the Paramount Billiard Saloon between Abe Wakem and Angus Duncan. Wakem went very well, and with numerous small breaks had a good lead in the early part of the game. Finding the conditions ideal, he exploited numerous difficult shots i with the utmost ease. Duncan, not to be denied, lost the white and carried his.break to 81, and. shortly afterwards, playin" good all-round .billiards, compiled a nice' break of 125, breaking down on a simple loser. The same-was full of interest, and Duncan won by, a small margin. Game 730-604. Breaks: Duncan, 24, 81, 37, 25 61. 20, 25, 125, 38, 36, 48. 20 unfinished; Wakem, 28. 22, 47, 28, 26, 20, 25, 20,-52,----22, 66, 38.

Two light aeroplanes, one. for the Auckland Aero Club and the other for a private owner, were bought in Sydney by Mr. 'L. W. Svran,, secretary of the club, who returned by the Niagara after a brief business visit to Australia. Mr. Swan said that on his,arrival, at Auckland the club's new, machine was a wooden da Havilland Gipsy Moth, while .the other machine, purchased for Mr. Martin Scott, of Auckland, was of metal construction.
