ROBBERY IN TAXI
DRIVER TO STAND TRIAL
SYDNEY, July .20. A taxi-driver, Edward Albert Charles Collings, aged 35, was committed for trial on a charge of assaulting Alfred Edwards and robbing him of a small sum of money and a tram pass.
A cable received on July 8 stated that Alfred Edwards, an employee of the Eandwick Military Hospital, after spending an afternoon in tho city, met two men who offered to drive him home. The car sped in the opposite direction, however, and Edwards was battered until ho was unconscious, and hurled into-scrub. He was later admitted to hospital with head and face wounds and a fractured jaw. He was robbed of the few shilling ho lad with, him.
