LAST NIGHT'S BALL

DELIGHTFUL EVENING

Very bright and cheerful were tho rooms at Kirkcaldie's last evening when flic Australian Club held its annual ball, which was a great success.

Tho dancing room was decorated in tho club's colours, groen and yellow, stands of greenery being effective, while the electric lights wore softened with long streamers of- theso colours. The lounge made 'a pleasant drawing-room, and was outlined with' white trellis twined with green, and high stands of much-berried holly gave a "warmth" to tho picture. The entrance lounge was arranged for refreshments, and the Jacobean supper-rooni was charming in yellow tints of flowers and delicate greenery, the walls being adorned with the Union Jack, the New Zealand and Australian flags in: places of honour. The orchestra, which was one of special morit, was on a:: dais near the door of the ballroom.

The reception committee included Mr. J. T. Spears, the president, and Mrs. Spears (who wore a handsome gown 'of palo green crepe romaine, made on slender lines, with shoulder frills). Mr. Warwick Gregory) vice-president, and Mrs. Gregory (black Chantilly lace over pale pink); and Mr. S. W. M. Stilling, : chairman of- committee. The hostessos were Lady Myprs (who woro magnolia satin-striped m'arocain, with twisted black velvet corsage trimmings), and Sirs. Gordon Forbes (black satin, with puff sleeves, dropped from the shoulder and round neelc of diamante). The general committee comprised Mrs. J. T. Spears, Mrs. Gordon Forbes, Messrs. K. Bogg, L. E.
